2014 is finally underway! In between time, I’ve been de-cluttering my own space and planning and re-focusing on the year ahead.
Here’s what I experienced during my de-clutter process:
1. It can be physically exhausting – sifting, sorting, throwing out, archiving and cleaning is a great way to come to that feeling of “exhausted but happy”.
2. It can be emotionally draining – reviewing where I’ve been, seeing what I’ve done (and not done) and letting it go has helped me start to create the year I want.
3. Checklists have been completed – that tick of achievement is so satisfying!
4. And new ones have been made – I know where I want to go and what action I need to take to get there. My calendar is a one stop easy reference that reflects where I am starting, and what I need to do to bring my ideas to life. One of my checklists is a budget (it’s really not a dirty word!). It too is a one stop easy reference that works like the calendar – one page, clear, simple, trackable.
5. My space is organised – I know what I have and where it is. I know what I need and my wish list is pretty small as a result.
6. New routines are in place – they are easy for me, a natural extension of what I’m doing anyway.
7. And I’ve had the chance to get creative – putting things together in ways that are fun, beautiful and practical for me.
De-cluttering my space has really lifted me! I’m inspired and I’m motivated; my world seems a whole lot easier and much more do-able. 2014 is my time and now I’m set up for its success!
