As someone who plans to the nth degree, you can imagine that taking action does not come naturally to me. This is something I continue to come to terms with, a work in progress with results that seem minor, especially in comparison with those who take massive action.
Taking massive action is not something I’m comfortable with. Taking small consistent steps towards my goal works and sometimes even those small steps feel like big ones. The small steps are the result of chunking down the goal. The easy actions are the obvious ones to take. There is a pretty quick result, a sense of accomplishment and the momentum to take the next action.
Some action is good, more action is better. More action, even if in another area works – unless, of course, you listen to the inner critic that says it’s stalling, procrastinating, busy-ness, all of which may, or may not, be true. Nevertheless, continue with another action. Each action brings with it a chance to correct and re-direct.
One of the things I’m learning to appreciate is that my sense of order eventually comes to the rescue to help me pull everything together, to tie up the loose ends and complete the tasks. This is when massive action works for me.
I am the slow and steady kind and I do make it to the finish line. By re-focusing on my goal, using my plan as a starting point and taking the steps until I get there I do get there.
