Taking it all the way to the finish line.
A couple of weeks ago I thought I’d gone as far as I could with my outcomes for 2017. With prompting from my mentors and a renewed focused on what I want my life to look like, I took a long overdue action. Asking for what I want has had some unexpected results. Creating life as I want it is on the move again!
This week I gave notice to a client – without anything to replace them and with no clear idea of what to do next. The relationship had degenerated to the point where neither of us was bringing out the best in the other and that’s not a place I want to be. If truth be told we’d probably both been tolerating the situation for too long and it was time for things to change. The news was received better than I’d expected and we are working together to finalize the situation as a team effort. The weight has been lifted and the sense of freedom is immense.
Saying no to what’s not working has opened up space for something new to come in, several things in fact! A sticking point with another client has also been freed. A couple of years ago I suggested an alternative solution to a client and he has been resistant. An issue came up which I was not able to address in the usual way – “I’m sorry, it won’t work for me to do it that way.” Simple, clear, direct. His next suggestion took me by surprise – “I guess it’s time to try out that other way then.” Hooley dooley! With the support of three of his team he has tried out the alternative idea and the resistance is gone!
In addition to this unexpected progress, I’ve had two other offers much more in line with who I am and what I want.
A couple of weeks ago I settled, telling myself I’d finished what needed to be done. All the while a part of me knew I’d really quit/given up/stopped/could’ve gone that extra step. Giving notice to the client that had been giving me grief has meant a sense of freedom and it’s opened the space for new opportunities, including another one I’d given up on some time ago. Now I am finished for 2017, and I’m not – I’m onto the next stage!
