My Birthday Wish for You

Last week I celebrated a birthday. I do like that day of celebration! It wasn’t always that way though.

Another lifetime ago birthdays were not a happy day for me. Back then anything that meant something I could be happy about was spoiled. Back then I was depressed, a lot. Back then anything that went wrong was my fault and until I fixed it I was not let off the hook.

I remember the day I decided “today is my birthday and nothing is going to upset me!” I saw the world in a whole other way. My energy was light, there were no disruptions or arguments or sabotage, and instead, I had a good day. I smiled at everyone and connected with so many more people and things flowed.

It took me another few birthdays to realize “if I can do it on my birthday, why don’t I do it every day!”  I don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier!

A good day is a choice. There will still be ups and downs and problems to solve – it is life after all! A good day doesn’t need fanfare or gifts although the strangest thing is that it often comes with unexpected and unasked for acknowledgments. You don’t have to wait for a birthday; make a choice each day to see the world in a whole other way. Choose to live life as a celebration. Celebrate the day, connect with others and live in the moment.
