Is Clutter a Problem for You?

How do you know when YOU have a problem with clutter? Friends and family may tell you that you have a problem but if you’re okay with it then you may not have a problem at all.

Clutter can be defined as:

  • Things you do not use or love
  • Things which are untidy or disorganised
  • Too many things in too small space
  • Anything unfinished

There are a few tell-tale signs you may not want to talk about but are secretly causing you some concern. For example:

  • Things seem too hard and you want to quit even before you start.
  • You’re procrastinating so much so you’re putting your life on hold.
  • You feel disorganised and on the back foot in situations you used to pride yourself on.
  • Relationships are suffering because of it.

If these things are happening more often than you’d like then maybe it’s time to take a look at your physical environment to see how it is impacting your life. In many cases you may not even be aware of the impact it’s been having until you start to sort it out and clean it up.

In the end, it’s up to you to decide if you have a problem with clutter. Only then will you take action to serve you, to make things easy for you again, to move forward with all those projects (exciting and otherwise) you’ve had on hold and to take charge of your life, your time and your space once more. Friends and family do care and want to help. Ultimately it’s up to you to take the action and you’ll do that best when clutter is a problem to you, not to them.
