I have no idea where I’ll be when you read this blog! I leave in less than a week and I’ve come to realise no matter how much research I do, how many questions I ask, photos I see or stories I hear I won’t really know what it’s like until I am there.
Of course, I do know where I’m going. I’m not drifting aimlessly. It’s been a 7 month journey so far. There was a plan and there is a destination. Flights are booked, accommodation is sorted and some adventures have been pencilled in.
As with anything worth pursuing there have been hiccups, my resolve has been tested and my comfort zone has been stretched even before I leave and oh, those last minute details – how many there are! My housesitting lifestyle has prepared me in many ways especially with minimal living and working remotely with my clients. The difference is that up to this point these have been within my comfort zone, especially with familiarity of the areas I’ve been living in.
As a new traveller there are things I didn’t even consider. I have come to appreciate the concerned questions and support of my friends and family. Goodness knows how far I would have got without them! Details like have you renewed your passport yet?!? I have all I need to start my journey. Some plans when I come home are still to be confirmed. And in between will be the travel adventures and venturing further into the unknown.
Despite all my preparations and the search for certainty it’s time to let go and trust that things will work out. What am I saying – things ARE working out! I am as certain as I can be. It’s time to let the adventure unfold!
