What was I thinking????

The process of change and re-defining yourself will have its hiccups, some may be nuisance value and others may be bigger than that. Each will have to be addressed and there will be times when you’ll be asking yourself “What was I thinking?”

Being a pioneer and taking brave new steps into unchartered territory does mean doing things differently.

This can be anything from:

  • Going out on your own
  • Stepping aside from usual connections and routines
  • Finding a new support network
  • Creating new routines
  • Speaking up
  • Standing strong and unwavering

To:

  • Being your own cheer squad against the roaring crowd of naysayers.

When the doubts hit and you can be assured they will, they will happen all at once and when you’re at your lowest and most vulnerable. Know that this is a necessary part of the change and a great choice point. This is an opportunity to re-affirm what it is you’re aiming for and review how you’re going about it. This may be the time to:

  • Take care of yourself
  • Let go of some of the beliefs you have as to how you’ll make it happen
  • Find a new strategy
  • Ask for help if you don’t know what to do or how to do it.

It used to really upset me when friends and family expressed my doubts at what I was doing; after all, it was not what they were used to me doing. Looking back I can see I was looking for their support to bolster my own doubts; after all, it’s not what I was used to me doing either. Stay clear on your outcome, keep moving and be gentle with yourself if it’s not yet working out the way you’d expected.
