You’d expect that as a neat freak and declutter coach I would have some systems & routines in place to make my own life easy. Of course, I do! They work for me and I keep doing them.
I also have some routines in place that don’t work for me. And I keep doing them too! This month my focus is on routines – why they work, putting some in place, results you might expect and I’ll look at when they’re not working.
I’ll keep it pretty general to get you thinking about transferring them to the area of your life that’s feeling a bit cluttered at the moment. The bottom line for me is about putting a structure in place to make life that little bit easier. Routines go a long way towards this.
A routine is something done often in a regular and repeated way. You know how to do it, and when, and it becomes automatic. There’s no need to think about it. It’s done! A simple example is brushing your teeth before bed.
Routines that work:
- Make life easier
- Reduce chaos & uncertainty
- Take care of the important things
- Take care of the small details too
- Reduce stress
- Increase well-being
- Increase efficiency
- Free up your time
- Mean things run more smoothly
If your frustration level is increasing and your tolerance level is becoming non-existent, then a routine, or a change in your routine, could make all the difference.
