Today I got a compliment and the comment that whatever I’m doing, to keep doing it!
As yet I can’t see the difference, but I probably have the most critical eye (and inner critical voice, I will add). So just what is that I am doing? I think I need to view it objectively and acknowledge it for myself.
Exercising more consciously – making the effort and sometimes, when I have more time, making a bigger effort. My walks are taking me the same time but I am walking further. Conversely, if I’m pushed for time a short walk will do.
Eating – still choosing healthy and making my own as much as I can (I do enjoy it, I am in charge of what and how much, and my bank balance is staying healthier too!). I still go for 15 different plant-based foods a day so lots of fruit and vegs and an occasional change from my usual menu. Both of these things keep it interesting.
Distractions – keeping busy, away from the kitchen, away from the snacks and even when I really can’t, then choosing more wisely. This weekend I did another jigsaw puzzle. Last night I had nothing I needed to do and the kitchen was visited many times. The lesson – keep busy, active and productive. I really wasn’t hungry, just bored.
Working on other areas of my life while I’m doing all that – Learning new skills, speaking up, asking questions, proactively taking actions (that might have something to do with my impatience level but it’s helping me take action – I know there is an answer other than the one I’ve been given and I will find it), new clients, widening my social circle, time out when I need it.
It’s not all smooth sailing and I have fallen over a couple of times. My bigger picture keeps me on track but comments like the one I got today certainly are a more immediate gauge that something I’m doing is working.
