Start with the small steps.
- Have a big picture outcome – what does a healthy body look like to you? Go past an ideal weight and look at managing health issues and transgressing them, energy levels, activities to enjoy and feeling great in your body.
- Eat simply – whole foods, freshly prepared and eaten with presence. Despite marketing ploys that have you eating fast foods and drinking who knows what, eating fresh and preparing for yourself takes less time than you’d expect, costs less (especially in health care costs) and tastes better. Stop to eat your meals. It takes only 10-15 minutes out of your day and your food will digest much easier.
- Drink more water – plain filtered & unflavoured water will hydrate your body, and help elimination, clear your head and your skin will love it. Begin by drinking more water. You can do this even before you cut down on other drinks that include water but aren’t.
- Move – your body knows it needs to move, so move it. Start your day by moving. Get up from your desk and move. Stretch. Take a walk. Go to the gym. Dance. However you enjoy moving your body, that’s the way to move it.
- Sunshine – Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a real thing. Our bodies need sunshine, our minds do too. Sunshine is also a natural source of Vitamin D (take in moderate amounts, so you don’t damage your skin).
- Fresh air – Air conditioning can be great in temperature extremes but there’s nothing like fresh air and the health benefits that come from being outside and breathing in fresh air eg lungs are cleared, clarity to the brain, digestion, blood pressure & health, mood is enhanced, immune strength, blood is purified and keeps tissues & organs healthy.
- Not feeling well? Get support from your health care professional. Do what you need to do to heal. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to your health.
A change in one area of your health will lead naturally to changes in the other areas. You may find things get worse before they get better. Your body will start by clearing up long buried health issues. Be patient with your progress & the changes. They are worth it.
