Getting back to basics

This week I’m feeling the pressure of having stepped up. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I’ve created but to continue as I am without making some sort of major change is a sure path to burnout. Tweaking things has helped but it’s time for more. It’s time for an overhaul, a complete review of how I’m doing things. It’s time to simplify. The next level is here and it’s time to get back to basics.

As I sit at my desk and work I am surrounded by the many projects I am working on. I am feeling overwhelmed and it’s not a feeling I enjoy. My project notes are getting mixed up as I flit from one urgent request to another and I can’t find what I need. Frustration – another feeling I don’t enjoy.

Underneath all that my inner critic is (as usual and on cue) telling me I can’t do it, I’m not enough, WTF was I thinking!?! Thank you, inner critic, for reminding me of where I am and what I need to address. The adult in me reminds me this is the place from which to start.

My desk is also my dining table so I’m short changing myself of one of the things I enjoy, good food in a calming environment. I’m making do and making do is not supporting what is important to me-

  • Freedom
  • Space
  • Connection
  • Beauty
  • Peace

And I want all that back.

These are my basics, my values. Very simply, this is what is most important to me. This is what will support me to be who I am, true to myself and fully in life. With this clear picture of how I want my life to be I now know what I need to do to have all that back.
