Managing the downtime

My focus this month is on downtime.  Simplifying my life is about priorities and  my health and well-being are big ones.

Scheduling in some time out is  a very necessary step to achieving this end.   This is the time I need to switch off, to be with me, to socialise, to have some fun and just to do what I need to do for me. It’s really about gifting myself the time I need to recharge so that I can be all that I am.

Life can be pretty hectic and it’s really easy to fall into the routine of being busy 24/7 until it all just becomes a blur of go, go, go. Even before being in business I did this – as a working mum, as a full-time student juggling my family of two teenaged boys, later as a family business owner and now as a solo entrepreneur I catch myself going down the same path again.

I have some regular routines that give my life some structure. They may not be as straightforward as a 9 to 5 job yet they work for me. They allow me to enjoy the day outside and to  focus on my business and my clients. I get to look after my physical health  which in  turn  supports my mental health. I get to look after my spiritual health, to fill myself with those things that bring me back home to me so that I can give back to the world all that I am.

Scheduling in some time out is, for me, a sanity saver. Would I love to be Superwoman? Absolutely, and sometimes I can be – for just a short time! Time-out gives me permission to be the human being that I am, to fill my soul with all that it wants and needs and ultimately to bring so much more of me to the world.
