Routines – personally speaking

Last week I asked the question – What if you looked at your habits and routines and started doing things differently?

This week I’m going to make it personal. Changing what you do changes what you get. What if you changed the things you do for yourself and saw how those routines could really help you simplify your life?

What if:

  1. You looked after yourself with a regular routine – waking early, exercising, healthy eating? My own weight loss journey and success could only be achieved by putting new routines such as these into my day.
  2. You took the time to meditate, visualise, breathe deeply, stretch and be present? When things get really busy stopping might just be the thing that helps refocus and get more done. A simple routine of a few rounds of deep breathing, whenever the stress is at its peak can make a world of difference to simplifying your life and getting more done with less stress.
  3. You chose to have a good attitude that will make a difference to you and to others? Colluding, whingeing and complaining are not great routines to have if you want to be inspired and achieve. Instead, a routine of stepping away from the negativity and taking a positive attitude can make a world of difference.
  4. You made a clean desk policy to help you both mentally and physically file away the day’s achievements and start each day with a clean slate? This simple routine also helps with time management.
  5. Made your day a little fun by connecting with colleagues and mixing things up a little sometimes? Does your daily routine work for you? Mix it up a little and get to know others who are a regular part of your work day.

Routines are a great way to simplify your life. A great place to start is by changing your personal routines. This will make an impact, and a difference, to what you do and the results you get.
