The Start

It’s time! For too long I’ve been saying “I’m going to…(did you hear the “one day” in there?) And that time is now.

The straw finally broke the camel’s back. This week I made the choice to feel great again, to get back to that healthy weight when I felt my best and to get my blog, workshop and coaching self out there. Today I start to share this weight loss journey – because this one will be very different to the last one.

And so to Monday – because everything starts afresh on Monday! Walking was to begin again – I want to be out the door by 6.30am, even if on my own. My walking partners had dwindled in enthusiasm and I was watching myself go down the same path. Our walk began, and continued, in silence until I voiced all that was frustrating me about my own actions (and inaction) and the results of those actions (and that inaction). I promised to take more responsibility for me and I asked for help in my being out the door at 6.30am. So far, so good! And I’m okay with walking on my own for a time.

Next, shopping. Part of taking responsibility for me is to make sure I have enough to keep me going. (I am not a pretty sight, or a nice person, when I am so starving hungry that I can’t think straight.) I have a nice stack of fruit and nuts to nibble on, should I need it, and plenty of fresh vegetables to feed me at meal times. Now’s also a great time for me to experiment with food, so at $2.99/kg I’m cooking fresh mussels for the first time. Photos to come in the future.

And other decisions include no dessert, not even to share with those who are important to me. I’ll stick with my nightly treat of dark chocolate (a couple of squares is enough) with my cup of tea.

Who knows where this journey will take me to! All I know is that I’ll be sharing this one with you (whoever you may be).
