Overnight Success?

This week I’ve watched myself on the emotional rollercoaster ride that is part of growing a business.   I’ve been there before but this time, it’s MY business – a very different story!

No longer do I have the excuse that I was just there to clean up the mess that someone else made now with their business – this one is mine and it’s up to me!   The temptation is there to run back to a job but with the executive decision that there is no Plan B it becomes a whole different game.   I’m starting to let go of all that I think I should be doing and learning about the different things I could be doing instead that will help me get to where I want to go.

One thing I’m learning (or re-learning, the lessons keep coming back to remind, don’t they!) is that change is a process; it’s a journey and it takes time.   No matter what the goal is – weight loss, creating a home, or growing a business – results come from consistent action over a period of time.   Right now making the changes seem unfamiliar.  Over time they will become a natural part of life, a step along the way and finally, a proven way that can help someone else along the path.

There really is no such thing as an overnight success.   Learning new skills and doing things differently does take time and it can be done, especially if the why is big enough.   I’ve done this enough times before (getting to my goal  weight, raising a family, becoming an accountant, and achieving Toastmasters’ ultimate award) to know I can do it for this one too!
