6 Steps to Spring Clean for Weight Loss

With spring in the air there’s a natural energy for lightness, freshness and being outdoors. It’s a perfect time to set yourself up to lose winter’s extra kilos and to bring in all you need for a healthy lifestyle ready for summer, and beyond.

The obvious place to start is in the kitchen.

1.       Pull everything out of the fridge.

2.       Toss anything past its use by date and, here comes the hard part,

3.       toss anything that’s one of your trigger foods.

4.       What’s left should be fresh food and condiments to support your healthy lifestyle.

5.       Wipe the inside of the fridge clean.

6.       Organise your fridge to encourage choices for healthy eating and healthy cooking.

Repeat the above for the pantry, especially the part about tossing anything that’s one of your trigger foods.

Look next to your cutlery and crockery. The mind looks to fill a plate no matter what size so keep the smaller plates and bowls close to hand and the larger ones to the back. Chopsticks are staples in my cutlery drawer and I use these to eat (slower) with whenever I can.

Repeat the above process for your wardrobe, especially the part about pulling everything out of your wardrobe.

1.       Toss anything past its wear by date.

2.       Donate anything larger than the size you are right now.

3.       (It’s almost time to pack up winter’s clothing, so why not do this now as well?)

4.       Keep only what you look & feel great in.

5.       Clean & wipe down wardrobes & drawers.

6.       Sort into like categories and replace in the wardrobe and drawers.

Keep exercise gear separate, and by separate, I mean at the front where it’s easy to put them on each day for some exercise (this is part of the plan for a healthy lifestyle, remember).
